I honestly don't know why everyone is so worried. Youk will just have a backup role to Nunez at third. Nunez will be the full time third baseman.

Nix takes part time role filling the gaps for days off
Nunez will be ALL SS in place of Jeter before and after return when he needs days off (which he WILL start getting more of)

12M for Youkilis? Meh. His offense is slipping and he hasn't been a good defender since 2010. If the Yankees believe he can bounce back to his 2011 numbers then this is a good ideal. If not then this is at least 5M too much for Youk.
