Fun thread: How much would Jack Chesbro demand today?

Jack Chesbro won 128 games in seven years for the Yanks.

    In 1903 he was 41-12 with a 1.82 e.r.a.
He had 48 complete games and pitched 454 innings.

$150 million for three years is my guess.

Yeah, yeah I know, he is from another era and could not get anyone out today.
    Make believe.

I'll play along. Those are some very impressive numbers. Depending on his age, he would be in line for a Verlander/Lee/CC type of deal. Assuming if he is young (26 to 29) I would think a 6 yr 23 mil annually contract would be good. I mean thats an awesome ERA and his wins-lost ratio is outstanding. But looks like he has thrown a lot so his arm would fall off and be set for Tommy John surgery.

Actually some people do care for the sake of having some fun. One thing is certain and that is nobody cares that you don't.

I think he would be in line for TJ surgery for sure. As recently as the early 1960's I remember most fans expected pitchers to throw complete games. I remember hearing often, 'He is good and wins but he can only go seven or eight.'
I kid you not. Go back to starting pitching stats for early to mid 1960's and before and see their percentage of complete games. If you gave a solid six or seven you sucked and were traded. The game has changed big time.

Most older players will tell you that the lowering of the mound was the modern day culprit that put so much stress on recent and current era pitchers.

Can you at least explain to me how this is fun?

I'm just curious how discussing a random, dead pitcher's current value is fun.

You know what is funny though? You reporting my posts and thinking that it would work.

So you're asking what a modern day contract would look like for someone who put up super-human numbers by todays standards over 100 years ago?

I like amateur or public nudity rather than staged porn.

    That is all.
