Will Kershaw be the 1st 30million dollar MLB pitcher ever?

If dodgers give in to Greinke and give him his 25 mill (6/150) he's asking, Kershaw would then be valued at AT LEAST 30 mill/year.

If Dodgers wouldn't offer him that, I can think of at least 5 other big market teams that would gladly give him a blank check.

Its crazy how much pitchers who play 1 game a week are gonna be making soon.

I don't think Greinke will get 25 mil a year, but I do think Kershaw will, and at least he deserves it!

I think Grienke is a very good pitcher who is over-glorified because he is the best FA this year. There are several pitchers I would rather have on the roster. That said, he will be be grossly overpaid. 6yr x 140mil. is my guess.

Kershaw will get the largest deal ever when his time comes. I am guessing an average of upper 20's per year at at least 7 years.

I don't care how much it costs...as long as Kershaw remain healthy, dominant, and law-abiding...he has to be paid/made a Dodger for life.

    25 mil a year for 7 years= 175 mil contract
That's what I see Kershaw getting.

What could be very telling about how much he gets is when he signs, their have been talks about Felix Hernandez and the Mariners working on a deal. So lets say they hammer out a deal next off-season before Kershaw, you have to figure it will be the biggest deal ever for a RHP, i'm thinking 7/180. If that happens, we could easily see CK break $200M.

I think Kemp's extension worked out to be less per year than he could have got on the open market? Is there reason to believe we could work out a similar deal with CK?

A 10-year, $300 million extension definitely sounds possible.

Came across an old article on ESPNLA.com...here's an excerpt,

""He's an unselfish kid. It's been his thought all along that he'd like to get somebody else there that they can put in the lineup that can help him, help the team win."

However, general manager Ned Colletti said Friday, the club's payroll will be lower in 2012 than it was in 2011. The franchise will soon be sold in a bankruptcy court auction, mostly likely by Opening Day.

"The payroll is probably going to be lower than it was a year ago," he said. "That's what I've been told."

Kemp will make $12 million in the first year of the contract. Two million of that will comes as signing bonus paid in April 2012. Another $2 million of his $10 million base salary will be deferred until April of 2013.

He will make $20 million in 2013, $21 million in 2014 and 2015 and $21.5 million a year in the following four seasons, through 2019.

Colletti has never signed a player to more than a five-year deal during his tenure as the Dodgers general manager."

Man have we come a long way. I dont think Kershaw will push for a crazy contract, he will accept market value.
