Dodgers payroll do they still owe franks debt?

Andruw jones is signing with a team in japan do the dodgers still owe him and manny money or was that settled in the bankruptcy and franks sale of the team?

I think they still owe him. It counter as payroll and not his debt, I think.

I think we still have to pay because the money was defered. He played with the Yankees last year, but we still had to pay him.

I don't believe they did, actually. That rule typically applies to those claimed off of waivers.

Jones cleared waivers when the Dodgers released him, signing as a free agent with Texas, then the following season with the White Sox, then again with the Yankees.

The reason the Dodgers still owe him is because he agreed to restructure his deal to space out what was owed through 2014 in exchange for his release.

In either case, whether or not the Yankees paid part of his salary last year or not appears largely irrelevant in terms of our yearly debt to him. I'd also have to believe that if it really were the case that any new contracts he signs reduces the Dodgers debt to him for that year, this one he signed with the Japanese team would not qualify as they are not part of the MLB's CBA.

That would be equivalent to him making money as a music instructor and the Dodgers paying him less based on that. Just my two cents

any deferred money is still on the books, it's not really a debt but just part of their salary.
