Escobar? Really? This guy is about as washed up as they get.
I'd rather take a flyer on Reynold's personally.

Damn straight. Goddamned ****in' Latino. So washed up! And he'll probably struggled in the cold weather, because as we all know, Latino's don't know up or down when it's under 40, amIright? It's not like he was good only one calender year ago or nuthin'.
Sign the whitey!
Oh, Brownies. We've not missed you in the least.

Messed up? Maybe.
Washed up, probably not.
casey mcaghee anyone exfarmhand of the cubbies
Purely on a baseball level Escobar is a good target. Obviously there's baggage though and you do have to put some weight on that.
^ Yep.
Can't we just trade of Asdrubal Cabrera instead? He's a better player anyway...
Indians will want a bunch in return for Cabrera. If the Cubs trade for Escobar I'm sure they would be giving up very little in return or they won't be making a deal for him. The Cubs aren't going to trade any young talent for a veteran guy right now.

I doubt the Marlins sell Escobar for cheap. He's still a starting quality SS in a league that doesn't have 30 of those (probably barely has 20, but haven't checked).
Cabrera is 3 years younger than Escobar.
There is a lot of baggage around Escobar and he makes 5 million next year. I'm not sure how much they will get in return for him. Remember how little the Jays paid to get him in the first place. I'd be shocked if the Cubs give up anything of value for a guy like this. Which is probably why a team like the Rays or A's are going to get him and not the Cubs.

I'd be shocked if the Marlins took nothing of value for a starting SS. The Jays got lucky, and it's a whole different market now.
I just want to make it a threesome and get something from the Rays and A's in the process. I really would like Sonny Gray to be in the organization. As short RH pitching prospects go I think he's awesome.
Well this thread is pointless now that Escobar got traded to TB...
