    they do now.
and this spending by the Dodgers doesn't guarantee they will be contending team, but it certainly gives them an advantage to where they can afford for certain players to not have their usual season and it still might not prevent the overall team from making the playoffs.
while the Dodgers are adding payroll to get to where they are, the Yankees it seems are trying hard to lower payroll.

obviously with Granderson being injured he's not being traded now.

but the reason I bump this thread is to ask this question. why was the thread created for Granderson breaking his arm moved just to the Yankees section? Granderson breaking his arm and being out until May is worth talking about in the MLB section, without having to just deal with mostly Yankees fans.

I know Granderson does a lot in the city of Chicago owns some stuff here as well. I'd love for the Cubs to get him. But unless we get rid of Soriano we have too many outfielders.

Wow I just noticed the Bump of this thread haha.

How much value does a 3 WAR player with a broken forearm have right now?

I can't speak for defense, but I don't think an average OF can put up 40+ HR.

Hes bad defensively and his HR totals are helped alot by Yankee Stadium. Since joining the Yankees he has 61 HR at home and 47 on the road. He also cant hit lefties worth dick. Hes pretty dang average

once he's healthy he's still going to be playing games for the Yankees, so the HR should still come the same at home.
he was definitely bad against LHP in 2012, but he was much better in 2011, and could still maybe be good enough once healthy.
once healthy and the forearm is healed, is that something that will continue to bother him? a wrist for example takes longer to heal even once you are back playing.

He's been a below average defender in CF (and that could be being generous), he struck out almost 29% of the time last year (195 Ks), and aside from hitting home runs last year he did nothing particularly special.

A guy with his speed should have more than 10 steals and more extra base hits as well (doubles and triples excluding the home runs).

Think we should have every single injury of a 25 man player posted in the MLB section?

    He's gonna miss a month, that's nothing.

Worst 40 home run season of all time fwiw

His .811 OPS is the worst by .020 OPS to Tony Armas from 1984

His .232 Batting Average is the worst of anyone to hit 40 home runs in a season
He is the only player to hit 40 home runs and not slug at least .500
And it's the 4th worst OBP ever for someone with 40 home runs.
    116 OPS+, second worst to Jose Canseco's 114 in 1998

It was not an impressive 40 home runs.

He had the same wRC+ as Jon Jay...who hit 4 home runs.

He produced the same offensively this year as Mark Tex and Martin Prado.

And he is due for a huge regression with a huge drop on his Z-Contact (7%) screams of a huge regression for him in 2013.

Nothing in this post disproves his post.

That Granderson is an average outfielder?

He is better than an average outfielder, which includes backups.

But he is an average starting outfielder.
