I have made my point on Cano many times. Sign him to a reasonable deal or trade/let him walk. Yanks would have gotten most of his best years at a discount and he can make 20 mill per year for the next 7 years on some other team.

Honestly, Cano doesn't strike me as the type who would value a successful team/atmosphere over whoever is the highest bidder. Obviously I don't know him personally, I just don't think he would say "man, team X gives me a better chance to win, so I'm going to take 10M less to go there"..

Whoever is paying him the most, that's where I'd bet he goes, whether it be us or elsewhere. Maybe we would get a SLIGHT edge if he likes it here in NY, but that's about it.

Agreed, hence I said he will get his money anywhere. I don't think the loot will be much different. He will have his choice.

If not, take my chances and hope for a few elite years of Josh, and flip Cano for some younger, cheaper pieces. Didn't even do the math to see if that works cap-wise, but if so, I'd do it. And flip Grandy as well.
