That's what scares me.

He messed up big time by not trading Reyes and Hairston. They didn't even get a 1st round comp pick for Reyes.

Alderson is a very competent GM. He probably should have traded Reyes, yes. But he is a fantastic GM, he was responsible for the A's of the late 90's and really brought in sabr-metrics for the Moneyball book and movie (even though Beane is credited)

The task at hand is for Alderson to see where the market stands for Dickey.

I think if fans of other teams were in our position they would be looking for their GM to do the same thing.

First of all, I'm not a fan of Dickey at all, and him coming to the AL East makes it worse. I hate knuckleballers, I don't care if he's the CY Young winner. His peripherals also were not extremely elite, TORP stuff until just this year, so do not tell me that he's been TORP ever since he transitioned into knuckle balling. High 3 almost 4 peripherals don't indicate a TORP, and after losing Nicolino, I don't think AA will move Syndegaard or Sanchez. Atleast, I hope he doesn't.
