I can definitely live with this contract. Not crazy about 4 years but 4/40 is much better than the 4/48 I thought it might take.
By the end of this contract I'm pretty sure Pagan will suck and we'll all hate Bochy for throwing him out there every day, but for 2013-14 this is a good deal.
I'm OK with overspending a little to keep guys who brought this city another championship. 4/40 isn't too bad, just great to see him back.
I thought he would get 4/52. Very glad he took a discount to stay with us. I wonder how much our initial offer was if the report was true about Philly offering more money to stay.
Watching the Dodgers annual postseason collapse like:
- “He runs meetings like a coach. Basically, I’m playing with a coordinator on the field. He’s a football God. He sees everything, and he sees the big picture of everything." - Frank Gore on Andrew Luck
- "He is as smart as Peyton, as accurate as Brady, tougher than Ben and as athletic as RG3." - Anonymous Head Coach on Andrew Luck
4-year $40 million is a fair deal.
I was afraid of something similar to Rowand's deal (5-year/60 million), or something even longer and more costly.
Today is the future that you have built (or neglected) yesterday.
Just wait until Buster needs to be paid
7-year, 565M deal.
Like everyone else said, not diggin the 4 years but I am very happy it is only $40mil. I thought it was going to be much more.
CSN Bay Area reports the salary breakdown as follows:
"Pagan will receive a $5 million signing bonus and annual salaries of $7 million salary in 2013, $9 million in '14, $9 million in '15 and $10 million in '16."
The signing bonus took a little of the "sting" out of it...
