    Rangers Sign Soto

The Rangers have re-signed catcher Geovany Soto to a one-year deal, according to Evan Grant of MLB.com (via Twitter). The deal is pending a physical.

Soto, 29, had a .198/.270/.343 batting line with eleven home runs in 361 plate appearances for the Rangers and Cubs last season. The catcher, who earned $4.3MM in 2012, was non-tendered by Texas just days ago. Last year marked a significant dip in offensive production for Soto and the Rangers hope to see him get closer to his career slash line .248/.336/.437 in 2013.

A negative rWAR catcher in Texas last year.

The slash lines didn't look good either, hope they got him cheap because he has regressed offensively.

I still think Geo is capable of being an impressive offensive threat.

But I doubt he will be.

I think Soto will rebound. His problem has always been his weight if he works hard the results usually show.

The Rangers starters really liked pitching to Soto (3.90 ERA with him catching). He's Darvish's personal catcher. Soto's a funny guy so he's relaxing to work with. Other than that, he's pretty much useless.

Even as a Rangers fan, I find this thread utterly worthless.

Who needs Josh Hamilton when you can have this for $11m?

There was so much hype for this guy coming up. Hope he can get some of it back.

Lmao. The pitchers love him, Darvish has him as his personal catcher, great guy for the clubhouse,,,,,,, but he sucks.

He had more than hype. He had a couple of damn good seasons for Chicago.
