Purely hypothetical, but would you guys rather have Wil Myers or Justin Upton?

Redsox have about $170M to spend here is my thought

    1. Johnny Gomes signed 2 years 10M

    2. Mike Napoli signed 3 years $39M

    3. Josh Hamilton signs 3 years with an opt for 4 at $50M

    4. Anibal Sanchez signs 5 years $40M

    5. Brian Wilson signs 1 year 5M

    Sox spent: $144M
    Leftover: $26M

*Please note I'm just having fun with this* Something I would do
    1) are you suggesting a 4th year option for $50M
    2) If not and you mean to sign him for $50M for 3 years... double that.
    3) 5 years @ $40M would be a slap in the face to Sanchez basically ending our chances to sign him to any sort of contract.

    @Ken_Rosenthal
#RedSox like Masterson; offers thus far not to #Indians’ liking.

Somehow i feel we will end up the short end if it goes through

I was just thinking now that the Rangers lost on Napoli and have just re-signed Soto, the might be interested in Salty. We could package Salty and Ellsbury and make a big trade with Texas. Who do you tihink could we get in return in a trade with them?

I'm getting really sick of people just tanking in hopes of contending next year. It's so stupid. If they sign swisher and get a decent arm for the rotation, then why not? Look at the Orioles and athletics this past year. No one even considered those teams to even be close. We have far more talent than those teams, they simply underperformed this past year, had no unity in the clubhouse, and didn't have the best person to manage the team. The red sox are not the royals, pirates or Astros. It's about this year and every year. If you have no optimism, then get out of here! I believe this team can go very far next year. They just need a couple more pieces.

I don't know about Swisher, I always thought the guy was a douche-bag but he's probably the type of d-bag you would love to have on your team. He plays hard, and he obviously cares and I like that. If we can get him on a 3/45 deal I would do it, otherwise find somebody else.

If we were to land Swisher, I still think we lack a #4 hitter, some really nice pieces to go around the lineup, but no cleanup hitter.

    1. Jacoby Ellsbury CF
    2. Dustin Pedroia 2B
    3. Nick Swisher? RF?
    4. David Ortiz DH
    5. Mike Napoli 1B
    6. Will Middlebrooks 3B
    7. Jonny Gomes/? LF
    8. Ryan Lavarnway/David Ross C
    9. Jose Iglesias/?? SS

JonHeymanCBS the #mets are talking to several teams about trades for RA Dickey. they seek catching and outfield help.
