alexspeier The merry dance with Sandy Rosario continues, as he's claimed on waivers by #cubs. He has become Mike Morgan in one offseason.

    Poor guy

Dempster? I seriously don't know if I should be laughing or crying. This is a colossal mistake, he's basically batting practice in the AL east. You can quote me on this: If he comes here, his ERA will be over 5, pretty easily.

I'd rather re-sign Cook then see Dempster

I don't think he would be that bad. Dempster has good stuff and always has had pretty good peripherals. Given their likely contracts, I'd rather have him than Sanchez, who his performance isn't far off from. It seems like his contract will be a lot better than Lohse's too, who is only a year younger than him, and doesn't have anywhere close to the same track record.

I am, it's not like I haven't been wrong before. Hey, it's not even a bold predicition, he got smoked in the AL last year. I have zero faith in him, I pretty much knew the Rangers were done in Oakland when they had to send out Dempster in the last (or second to last?) game of the season.

He's your typical NL-pitcher...someone flying under the radar. Ask the Cubs fans how they felt about his post-season performance(s). He'll have good years when pitching in Brewers and at the end of the year you'd say "Hey, nice year from Dempster", but in reality, he's someone you don't want near your (contending) team.

And hell, we are not even talking about an (expensive) 1 year deal. He already rejected 2 years at 25m and is seeking 3 years. He's exactly that kind of guy we would have tried to unload to the Dodgers if he were on the team last year.

I'd rather sign both of Jair Jurrjens and Dallas Braden and see if either looks like their old self in spring training. Give em' both 1 year, $3 million each.

Could be an absolute steal if just one of them panned out.

^^ Kuroda immediately comes to mind, which actually surprised me too.

Dempster got knocked around a bit with the Rangers, but he was a blatantly obvious candidate for regression when the Rangers traded for him. The guy had like a 2 era, ridiculous babip, lob% rates for the Cubs last year that clearly were outliers for his career, he was not pitching like a 2 era guy. That was going to normalize, and it did.

Cook pitched like **** in the NL before he came here, his ERA actually went down from what he did in the NL. And seriously 1 SP? Took me 1 second, Hiroki Kuroda, who almost no one here wanted last year because he was too old, Japanese, and was an NL pitcher.

This post is easily worth 10 WAR.

Does the name Hiroki Kuroda ring a bell?
