    Rule V Draft

I don't think the accident was that serious and the fact that he played all year at AA an performed well is the biggest reason why a team might take him, since that would make him a guy that is almost MLB ready unlike other guys who have more upside, but have only played in A ball.

I'd probably take Tim Crabbe from that list.

More than a year after sustaining serious injuries in an off-season car accident, former top outfield prospect Alfredo Silverio will be back in spring training with the Dodgers.
Dodgers outfield prospect Alfredo Silverio, who had a breakout season in Double A Chattanooga last year, was involved in a significant car accident in the Dominican Republic on January 23. Silverio suffered injuries to his back, shoulder, elbow, and neck, but is also still suffering concussion symptoms nearly six weeks after the accident. There is no timetable for his return to baseball activities, let alone playing in games.
He's not ready for the big leagues yet, there is a reason they took him off the 40.

He lost a whole year of baseball reps with serious injuries. I'd rather use our pick elsewhere.

There could be a team out there that takes a chance and even puts him on the DL to start the season if necessary.

Mets can trade for other picks and take 2 picks like they did a couple of years ago.

Does anyone know anything about Nate Freiman. His stats are ridiculous. He's a huge right handed hitting first basemen. Seems like a perfect pinch hitter/ starter against some lefties.

Sounds like the Mets will not take anybody in the rule v draft.

But one guys opinion, and it's tough to do such a list; guarantee the actual draft doesn't look like the list (unlike the amateur draft where you have a pretty good idea about where guys will go in the first round).
Thanks. I was aware of Mayo's short list. That's where I found most of the players I wound up liking. But I was looking for a more comprehensive list of available players so I could do my own evaluations. It's looks like a moot point since Sandy said they're probably not taking anyone.

Look for the Mets to trade Rule 5 pick Kyle Lobstein to the Tigers. Tigers ran a note to the Mets' table right before the pick.

Mets lose no one in major league phase of Rule 5 draft. 15 players selected overall.

Yeah Mets traded him to the Tigers, likely for cash considerations.

Josh Fields was taken #1 and btw Silverio was taken by the Marlins.
