AdamRubinESPN Scratch Geovany Soto off righty-hitting catcher options for #Mets. Re-signs with #Rangers:

I have 3 of your 4 on my list. I didn't see Aguillar. But, frankly, if we were going to take a guy who was limited to 1B, my choice would be:

Nate Freiman, a 26 yr old RH power bat with a good glove. His career slash line in 4 minor league seasons is .294/.364/.482/.847 and last year at AA it was .298/.370/.502/.872. Yeah, he'll be 26 at the end of the month, but he has been a consistent good hitter as he has climbed the ladder and I think he could stick if he had even a little versatility.

I also like Kenny Wilson, a 22 yr old RH CF in the Blue Jays system, At 2 levels last year he hit .260/.362/.358/.720 with 55 SBs. He only reached high A so it's a crap shoot whether he could hit major league pitching.

Buzz is that Armando Rodriguez will get drafted in Thursday's draft and maybe another Met.

Another guy that could be a possible Mets target is Alfredo Silverio a right handed outfielder with good power.

    Here are his stats.

    http://www.fangraphs.com/statss.aspx...55&position=OF

Played 132 games at AA last year and had a .236 ISO, low walk rates, but low K rates as well, so he could be a guy who could hit for decent power and average.

He got into a car accident prior to 2012. He's definitely not MLB ready.

I'm guessing you're right. I've been thinking all along that Armando could contribute at the major league level this year, possibly being the 2013 version of Josh Edgin.

I guess it was betwen protecting either him or Gonzalez German and they picked German. I would have opted for Armando, who has pitched better of late.

BTW, does anyone know of a web site, that you don't need a subscription to, that has a list of all Rule V eligible players, or a comprehensive list of the top ones?

Mayo has a list of top 20 rule 5 prospects:

    http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/prospects/wat...12/#list=rule5

But one guys opinion, and it's tough to do such a list; guarantee the actual draft doesn't look like the list (unlike the amateur draft where you have a pretty good idea about where guys will go in the first round).

I would certainly look into Nate Freiman then too.

Could give us a potential RH power bat off the bench who can play 1st..

    Rule V Draft

How is getting into a car accident mean a guy is not MLB ready? Unless he sustained a serious injury which will side line him for months.

If I had to take a guess it would be Haggerty from San Diego.
The Mets need a catcher and the Mets FO only likes players from Toronto and San Diego.

Because maybe the car accident was serious enough for him to miss the entire season and he only played in AA?

Yeah that's what I'm hoping for.
