I would do Niese and Familia for Myers for sure.
I still like Mejia and would rather not trade him if at all possible.
I'd even consider throwing in Duda.
If we do indeed trade Niese though, we would have to extend Dickey IMO.
Winter Meetings Recap and Summary of Activity
-- the InternetMets:
The Mets finalized their extension with third baseman David Wright, their only major action of the week. The deal gives him seven years and $122MM in new money, which can be considered an eight-year, $138MM deal if the value of Wright's previously-exercised 2013 club option is included.
The Mets are trying to hammer out a contract extension with R.A. Dickey while also listening to offers from interested clubs. The sticking point appears to be dollars rather than years between the two sides.
Miguel Olivo will be at the top of their list if they pursue a catcher.
The Mets and Scott Hairston are optimistic that a deal can be worked out.
Another pathetic lack of effort from the Mets. December already and the team is not 1 iota better than it was when the season ended.
I wouldn't trade Wheeler for Meyers straight up. Even if we make the postseason, pitching wins playoff series.
The lack of results is a continuation of the last 3-4 years, every opportunity to improve THE TEAM, for example the off-season, or trade deadline is squandered.
Compared to the Yankees this offseason, the Mets just aren't getting it done.
Scarecrow: I haven't got a brain... only straw.
Dorothy: How can you talk if you haven't got a brain?
Scarecrow: I don't know... But some people without brains do an awful lot of talking... don't they?
Dorothy: Yes, I guess you're right.
My question is if nothing happens in Nashville?, then should it get posted in here?
Year after year same epic fail.
Ludwick officially signed signed with the reds. Damn. The mets still need at least 2 solid starting outfielders. What are they gonna do? Arghhh
