i saw that quote about Myers for Shields too. it also says one person thinks the Royals wouldn't hesitate trading Myers for Shields.

Makes me wonder if we could actually have a shot at Myers if we trade Dickey or Niese, plus a couple decent prospects. Depending on who else we send to them, maybe we net a mid to low-level prospect as well.

I really want this to happen. A Dickey extension will be a waste as we really aren't close to competing and i don't see us competing for a WS in the next 2 yrs

I would trade Niese for Myers straight up in a heartbeat. Then that automatically opens up another 5 million or so to give Dickey what he wants.

Shields is 31 and has only had one season with an ERA under 3. Shields is solid but he's not worth Meyers.

well obviously the Mets would do that in a heartbeat but no way KC will. They'll want more. I'd be willing to give more as well.

Maybe something like Niese, Mejia, and Flores for Myers?

They might not even accept that but i bet it gets them thinkin pretty good.

Our best hope is that the Dodgers sign Grienke. That way Texas can trade us Olt and hopefully more for Dickey.

This has been a pretty boring winter meetings for the entire league. No one is willing to trade right now because some FA's are taking for ever. In a perfect world the Dodgers will sign Grienke making the Rangers desperate. Then the Rays would trade Shields for Upton taking the Royals out of the running for Shields.

That leaves the Royals and Rangers in a bidding war for Dickey.

Duda really isn't worth much at all... sure we can make a proposal of Dickey, Flores and Duda for Myers and Starling, but i hightly doubt they do that. Adding Familia would make it real interesting. Myers and Starling are easily the two best young players in the trade.

But anyways, i would trade Dickey, Flores, Duda, and Familia for Myers and Starling if they were game.

That would be great... really hope that happens. We need to hold Dickey until at least Greinke signs unless someone overpays now... meaning we'd better be getting someone like Myers if we trade Dickey before waiting it out.
