Is Gostkowski's position on the Patriots in jeopardy?
His misses are becoming a trend. Is this a bump in the road the Patriots will ride out or are they reaching the limit?

not as of yet. no one is going to make a deal out of missed kicks during the season unless their in the 4th quarter in a tight game. his FG% is better than guys like Barth, Prater, Vinateri, Akers, Crosby etc who are all considered pretty good kickers if you ask me.
if we lose a playoff game because of him, there's a good chance he's gone

SG's security on this team is based on his performance vs. that of other available kickers.
So in short, no.

I would gladly take Gostkowski over Crosby any day. Those of you who actually think Crosby is a good kicker obviously hasn't watched a packer game yet.
Andy Gresh put it perfectly on the post game show. He basically said fans after a Gostkowski miss always say "owh my gawd he missed it"(Boston accent) and don't recognize how well he's been compared to other kickers in the league this season. I know it's Andy Gresh that said this, but he's still right.

He has had 1 decent year surrounded with with mediocre ones. This year he is just god awful. Today he hit a 30 yarder that hit the upright before going in. He missed a 53 yarder before halftime and then on the opening kickoff to start the 3rd quarter he kicked the ball out of bounds. He missed the game tying FG against the Colts and he missed a tone of field goals against the Lions that almost cost us that game.
All i am saying is be happy you guys have a solid kicker. I would love to have a kicker like Gostkowski right about now.
During games I might blow steam about SG, but all in all, he's a pretty good kicker. He's not going to hit every one. Just was in a slump. But if this "slump" extends on to us losing games, 4th quarter "necessities", and playoff games, count him out. But as of right now, nah he's fine. When those misses are in critical games is when we have to worry. This Texans game is one of those critical ones. If he costs the game for us, he might be on a short leash with BB. We'll just have to see how he does. Could be worse. No need to panic right now.

Wasn't there a Gostkowski thread up last year talking about the same thing? I'm getting deja vu...
If he misses a FG, people begin to **** themselves in a fit of nervous anxiety.
I will ask again. If not SG, who? Who will we bring in that is performing better now than he is?
I really wish there were more folks in here who have been watching the Pats since before 2000. People do not realize how good this period is right now.
He missed a 49 yard attempt. People act as though he sucks. If you want to see sucakge, try watching during the late 1980's and early 1990s.

Well, comparing to the past players when past players weren't as good is pretty much a fools errand. The comparison must be to his contemporaries. He is 25th league wide based on %. So in the off-season will they draft a guy? Surely they will bring in a FA or two, but draft a guy? Is this a slump or something more sinister?
