Soria deal with Rangers probably gonna be 2 years - 8-9M. That would have been a great deal for the Yankees I would have thought. Let him work his way back from TJ in 2013 and if he's back to form he could take over the closer job in 2014 for 4-5M. This is where the whole 1 year deal nonsense is the most ridiculous thing I've heard. The Yankees do have to field a team in 2014 right? So why not try to have some spots under control before going into that offseason?

I guess the Yankees like the thought of putting a whole team together in one offseason with a strict budget though.

Yeah, theres a ton of money coming off the books but they will also have to construct a whole roster in one offseason. If you can get guys this offseason that aren't that expensive I don't see the problem with having some spots locked in for 2014.
