CBS Sports' Jon Heyman reports that the Red Sox are "talking to [Nick] Swisher now" about a contract.

The Red Sox just wrapped up a three-year, $39 million free agent deal with Mike Napoli and are now looking to further bolster the middle of their lineup. Swisher, 32, batted .272/.364/.473 with 24 home runs and 93 RBI in 148 games this past season for the rival Yankees.

teams aren't linign up to trade 23-27 year old studs, espcialyy since those are the years when the said studs are cost controlled

Yet they passed on Halladay.

Even if it cost Joba, Hughes, Montero, Banuelos, Romine and Brackman we'd still be ahead of that game based on how those players have progressed.

And yes I realize that Halladay was beyond that age bracket.

See if Washington can negotiate with Boras now on a massive extension in anticipation that the markets are declining especially given the Yankees very vocal withdrawal from negotiations.
