Hey guys, just wondering if Dickey had a "personal catcher" like a lot of knuckleballers do. As a Jays fan I was just curious to see if Thole was his catcher and if he would be coming with him if in fact a deal goes through.

Travis d'Arnaud is perfect, and the exact type of trade we need. We're giving the Blue Jays a guy that throws an un-hittable pitch, and who wins games no matter how bad the offense is, at a time they're ready to compete for a title.

Its Travis d'Arnaud or bust. If anyone excepts Anthony Gose and J.P. Arencibia, they're nuts.
R.A. Dickey is also only making 5 million this year. Getting an ace for only 5 million is also very reasonable

3 teams looking to meet with Mets on Dickey-Rubin post #918

Fans are so over protective of their prospects, reality is that out of those top three guys, one will be an average or above average guy.

    They're similar.
Why don't you include JP's first go around in Vagas where he hit .236/.284/.444 in 500 PA? So combine 2009 and 2010 and you get a combined .267/.320/.530 line. D'Arnaud's line translates way better than JP's. Not similar.

^I agree... Gose is a top 40 prospect but having never gotten a .500 SLG in his minor league career is a bit worrisome. And his OBP has always been not so great.

It's like how we overrated F-mart and Milledge. Sometimes you need guys who are hype but also did well in the minors. He hasn't

Yes, he likely would. Since one of your catchers would be coming in the deal it makes sense too.

We want to deal him if we can get a deal we like for them. JPA + Gose is not a deal that we would feel would help us so much in the future.

TDA + Gose would be a deal. TDA himself could be a good deal also because catchers are hard to come by.

That's what you have to realize. The Mets DO NOT need to trade Dickey.
No they don't... they can let him walk for nothing instead.

It worked out really well with Reyes. Who did you get for him again? Serious question - who was the pick used on?

Had to be done! Go T-Rex

I can see TDA going in a deal but the preference is to keep him and I would imagine should Sandy insist on TDA AA would want to expand the deal much like he did with the marlins.

The other need for he blue jays is LH power hitter. Ie Ike Davis. If you get TDA likely he will be moved along with Dickey.

Maybe something along the lines of: TDA + Gose + Emilo + Nolin for Ike Davis + murphy + dickey.

EXACTLY! This is why I truely believe the Mets will come out looking like they got a steal.

Don't be surprised if its Dickey+1 or 2 mid-low prospects with Dickey signing an extension for TDA, Syndergaard, and maybe even Gose.

Honestly, Jays fans are making it sound like all 3 of those guys are gonna be great ML players. Shields brought back the #3 and #30 overall prospects, plus another who is just outside the top 100, plus a 3B prospect.

TDA is ranked #11 and Syndergaard isn't even top 80 right now. Its not crazy to think something like this could actually happen. Chances they all turn out great is slim.

Although TDA had good numbers with the Phillies too. So it's probably just the TDA is an awesome prospect regardless.

Reyes got 100+ million dollars in the open market. Dickey is willing to reup for 2 years 28 million. He is asking for less than fair value. I'm pretty sure the Mets will give it to him before the offseason ends. If they can't find a suitable trade partner

JP showed that he was nothing special by struggling in Vagas of all places at 23 years old. His plate discipline was and still is terrible, and his hit tool is weak.

TDA is just a much better hitter and defender. He might have less pop though. He had a .914 OPS in AA so he's a very good prospect.

Syndergaard is top 100. The only reason he isn't on BA is that they hasn't came out with their updated top 100 list yet. Mayo has him ranked 83rd on mlb.com.

I highly doubt you get that package for Dickey. That would be more then what AA gave to get Josh Johnson and the entire marlins team.
