There have been reports on these forums lately saying Olt is a poor runner. How would he play the outfield in Citi, then?

I don't think he turned down that deal. I think there were talks about a potential deal if Texas missed out on their other targets.

Dickey is a 38 year old pitcher who won the Cy Young for us in 2012. If he was 28 years old, I would feel differently, but the odds of him continuing at his level in 2012 are not good. We have plenty of pitching talent to trade him to the highest bidder. If Olt is being offered, you take him. It would be gross mismanagement by SA to have any different outcome. This is real life, not some fantasy league. We are trying to build for the future and Olt probably has a lot more years of good ball in him than Dickey.

I never said anything about a trade, I just said the dodgers are not done and I can see them signing sanchez or lohse with the spending limits they are given.

Since you said the Dodgers weren't done, I assumed you meant they were going to pursue Dickey, since this is an R.A Dickey thread in the Mets forum.

The same way Duda did, I'm assuming. But scouting reports say that Olt was very swift at third and has a very good arm, so at least we know we would be putting some athleticism out there, not someone who obviously belongs at first base.

Jorge Alfaro is the best catching prospect they have. He's only 19, but K's so so much. He has been projected to be an average-above average player.

I'd rather try to get someone who is closer to major league ready.

Texas might want thole with Dickey since he has been able to learn how to catch the unique pitch of Dickey

Olt would make a great fielding replacement for Wright later on in his career. I'm sold. I want him.

Yeah they could always move Wright to LF when he's like 35, and move Olt back to 3B.

I wish we could get Olt and Martin. Gives us 2 starting OFer's instead of 1

We would be looking at a core of Olt, Martin, Ike, Wright, Tejada in the field and Harvey, Wheeler, Niese in the rotation. Wed have a chance to build on that and compete
