Gordon Wittenmyer:
Source confirms tentative agreement with Fujikawa reached late Saturday night -- hours after reports began to surface.
As long as the price is right, which for $4mil/year seems quite right. Love this move. KRod/Adams plz!!

Patrick Mooney:
Source confirms #Cubs closed Fujikawa deal late Saturday night - all that's left now is the physical.
First post:
Lot's of familiar faces on here. Just stumbled on this site! Any idea what the Cubs are after in the Rule 5. I know they are picking 2nd.
Fujikawa is the same kind of free agents signing Hoyer's been making since he joined the Cubs. It's a buy low situation to fill a need the Cubs have just to be viable. It's also more evidence that they're not outright tanking, they just don't want to tie up resources in players that will be starting to decline right at the time they want their minor league talent to be ready to contribute. This isn't posted to start the same old debate, I just think the plan is clear and the message is clear and this isn't outside of that plan at all. Fuijikaka allows them to fill a need without giving up a draft pick or risking blocking a promising player right when they need to be giving that guy reps at the ML level.
LETS GO CUBBIES...LETS GO DUKE!!!
