If he's good he's an asset. Which allows you to either win MLB games or trade him or other assets for more minor leage assets. And also. . . asset.

Make you wonder how much nonsense that is then, doesn't it? It doesn't? Sad.

Since we are "rebuilding" why not try young in house options and let whoever it is to grow into that role with this team.

thats kinda silly. outside of zych there is no one worthy or close to that job. our pitching depth was sad last year and it showed. im on board with Fuji, Baker, Feldmen, and give me more Ujhara, Mccarthy because our inhouse options do not exsist.

Lot's of familiar faces on here. Just stumbled on this site! Any idea what the Cubs are after in the Rule 5. I know they are picking 2nd.

Fujikawa is the same kind of free agents signing Hoyer's been making since he joined the Cubs. It's a buy low situation to fill a need the Cubs have just to be viable. It's also more evidence that they're not outright tanking, they just don't want to tie up resources in players that will be starting to decline right at the time they want their minor league talent to be ready to contribute. This isn't posted to start the same old debate, I just think the plan is clear and the message is clear and this isn't outside of that plan at all. Fuijikaka allows them to fill a need without giving up a draft pick or risking blocking a promising player right when they need to be giving that guy reps at the ML level.

    Marmol is 30
    Walks everyone
    7 million a year

So the cubs get 2 years older but 2.5 million cheaper and a better pitcher...

How is this a bad thing?
