Cubs to shop Soriano at Winter Meetings

Interesting, I wonder what the asking price will be?

Has there ever been a 4 win player with less trade value?

I dont think his value will be that bad considering we will have to pay most of the contract. We should get a decent return.

Hopefully one of Atlanta, Philly, Cincy, SF, NYY, Tampa, Baltimore, Oak will give up something good.

Soriano could be consolation prize for one of those teams. Justin Upton to Atlanta has been speculated, but that deal may never materialize with Arizona asking for Simmons in return.

And which of these teams will he waive his NTC for? NYY, Tampa, Atlanta, and maybe Philly imo. Already turned down Baltimore and SF last year. Can't see Oakland going after Soriano.

Tampa makes by far the most sense overall. If they can really get Niemann for Soriano and make the money work, it could be best case scenario as far as straight up. It would be to my druthers to send him to Philly with a 1-2 other pieces for Dom Brown, if this Phils have given up on him, he'd be imo the best return.

The question is if he's truly a 4 win player headed forward.

I'd say he's not. His UZR last year was probably a ruse.

Asking price will probably be a pitcher or a young OFer, as it's probably always been at all the other points they've shopped him.

We won't get scraps...i think we will be surprised with the return. Soriano has upped his value a ton.

    David Kaplan:

Cubs skeptical they can move Soriano. They will not eat all the remaining dollars unless they get something good in return. No point.

Ugh. Just eat the contract and get a good return for him. There's no need for a large market team to be this stingy.

Yes and why the heck would u want your team to throw away 36 million bucks. How are they being stingy.

^As they shouldn't. Seems fair, you get a productive player for next to nothing dollar wise but pay in specs...That's a decent option for teams.
