Okay, I gotcha. Still think the earliest Hamels could be had is july. Adding Soriano to me seems to indicate that they think they can win; and they'll need Hamels to attempt that.

It just wouldn't seem right seeing Sizemore on somebody's DL besides the Indians. Kind of like those two years Woody was gone for us.

Not that it's going to set us back at all, but why bother? He's done and a half. Shame.

Seems like a good idea to get one more in before things really start moving:

    FAs:

    Greinke (7/145)
    Hamilton (5/100)
    Reynolds (1/8)
    Chavez (1/4)
Liriano (1/8 with an option for 2/16)
    Howell (1/1)
    Lowe (2/10)
    Ryan Sweeney (1/3)
    Fujikawa
    Baker
    Navarro
    Feldman

Jeff Samardzija, Alfonso Soriano, and Carlos Marmol to the Yankees for Manny Banuelos, Tyler Austin, Dellin Betances, and Angelo Gumbs.

Wood, Betances, Szczur, and Torreyes to the Indians for Masterson, Perez, and Choo.

    Greinke
    Garza
    Masterson
    Liriano/Feldman/Baker
    Feldman/Baker/Vizcaino

    Perez
    Fujikawa
    Lowe
    Russell
    Howell
    Camp
    Baker

    C: Castillo/Navarro
    1B: Rizzo
    2B: Barney
    SS: Castro
    3B: Reynolds/Chavez (Prado in 2014?)

    Choo
    DeJesus/Sweeney
    Hamilton

    Top prospects:

    Baez
    Almora
    Soler
    Vizcaino
    Banuelos
    Vitters
    Villanueva
    Austin
    Johnson
    Gumbs

How many games does this win? Long term is it easy to turnover?

Is there a reason you're trading away our #1 starter

What does the 2013 salary on that team look like and how many men do you have on that roster?

Apparently The Jays have talked about JP Arencibia to the Rays for Davis and Mets for Niese. Cubs should jump in and offer Travies Wood. Then could put Castillo in another deal.

I wouldn't trade Samardzija for that let alone throw in Soriano and Marmol. Banuelos underwent Tommy John in October, Betances can't throw a stike. Austin and Gumbs are nice, but aren't close to getting Samardzija.

No way the Indians trade all of their trade pieces for a #5 starter, a guy that makes Marmol look like Maddux, a 4th outfielder, and interesting 2B guy. Way to little for even Choo alone.

I like this allot minus the Yankee's trade which I wouldn't consider doing. You like Yankees prospects far too much.

Yeah I agree with that about the Yankees. I'd rather deal him to a team like San Diego for Headley or to the Royals for Moustakas or Meyers.

    25:

Greinke (20.2 - probably more for 2013 salary)
    Garza (11)
    Masterson (5)
    Liriano (8)
    Feldman (7)
    Baker (5.5)
    Russell (800K)
    Howell (1)
    Camp (1.4)
    Fujikawa (5)
    Perez (5)
    Lowe (5)

    -----

    78.7

    Navarro (1.8)
    Castillo (500K)
    Castro (5)
    Rizzo (500K)
    Barney (700K)
    Chavez (4)
    Reynolds (8)
    Hamilton: (28)
    Sweeney (3)
    Choo (9)
    DeJesus (4.3)
    Valbuena (500K)
    Sappelt (400K)

    ----

    65.7

    = 144.4

So possibly too much? I did round up for pretty much everyone, unless rookies get paid more. One year deals add up to 60 million and including: Navarro, Liriano, Chavez, Reynolds, Choo, DeJesus, Sweeney. OTOH, the more interesting answer comes after:

    Does the team contend?

Any deals unmovable besides the two big ones that are not moving?

In other words, is it the same kind of 140+ payroll that led to this regime change?

I could see this team contending for sure. A core lineup with Castro, Rizzo, Hamilton, and Choo would be damn nice. Especially with a full season of Rizzo that could be as good as a anyones IMO.

That's a solid rotation and a pen that should be significantly better then last years. It wouldn't be a world beater team but, I also think last years team underperformed quite a bit so I expect improvements regardless of moves but, those improvements alone would still not be enough to make us contenders so adding these should.
