well cubbie nation how do you like your 2013 band-aid chicago cubs?
The bandaid has been on since 2011. They are taking it off very slowly and carefully.
I hope the "Appel" doesn't fall far from OUR tree.

Went back and read last years Winter Meetings Thread- seems like ABTY and MB posted a helluva lot more last year than this. Considering ABTY had a mini blow up two nights ago and really hasn't posted much since and now people are stepping on MB toes who immediately brought up posting elsewhere, everyone needs to chill the f--k out and stop shooting the messenger. Been lurking the web for solid Cubs site for sometime- this one has potential to be great and it seems like not too long ago it almost was the best on the web. Sounds to me like the teet is starting to run dry- maybe we should stop over milking.
It's December 6th, and most are already claiming the season to be set it stone. There are moves to be made still. What do we do with Garza? Soriano? Barney? Marmol? Vitters? Vogelbahch deal? Before we start to ***** about Theo not taking risks with more upside, let's understand the rationality of the moves given the current state of the team. Third base options are incredibly thin right now. Essentially Stewart might provide the most value, undoubtedly, given the price.
Stewarts defense has trended upwards the last 3 years. His walk rate has been maintained over 10%. The true causality of his hitting demise was these bone spurs in his wrist, which have been removed. There is the possibility Stewart outplays his contract, monetarily, by 4x the value. That would make him an average player in terms of WAR. If it comes down to Stewart given another shot at the starting gig, I will be 100% fine with it given the weak market.
There's still that nagging matter of him hitting awful in 2011 *before* he reported any pain in his wrist.
