The Cardinals have Shelby Miller and Oscar Taveras coming along. They're going to replace some vets with some high ceiling young cost-controlled players. I think that team will continue to compete for the division. The Brewers are in a lot of trouble if they can't spend money this off-season.

If The M's cant trade for Joel Hanrahan, then we should try to flip Marmol to them.

Who would you want though from them? You wouldn't get Franklin, Walker, Hultzen or Paxton. Plus I'm not sure why they wouldn't just use Pryor as their closer; that guy's stuff is filthy.

On a side note, while looking through Mariner's prospects I saw Carlos Triunfel's name. Talk about a guy who fell off the face of the earth. If i remember right he even made it into the top 20 prospects in baseball at one point.

Triunfel did not make the top 20 prospects in baseball, at least according to BA:

    I might suggest Alex Liddi.

For the rule 5 Draft I would like to take fliers on the following: Josh Fields, and Mark Krauss. Krauss would need to Work with McKay quite a bit but the SOB can hit.

Fields is the guy I want. He's an immediate plug in and if the Cubs could add Mike Adams to Kyuji that would make for a really strong bullpen.

Cubs still interested in bringing back Ian Stewart.

Ew. I could say more, but I think I said enough.

But Epstein said the Cubs could have to “get creative” at third, meaning “rely on players who haven’t necessarily held down that position for 150 games in the big leagues, or rely on a platoon, or rely on someone who is more of a middle of the field player who can provide plus defense at third, or more of a bat that you’re really hoping can catch the ball.”

Sounds like he might be talking about Escobar there.

Escobar has only played 22 games or so at 3B in his career. On the other hand, if Cabrera can play 3B then anyone probably can.

That description would also fit Valbuena.

It would but at least Escobar has some offensive value.
