Meh, just went with a lighter package to test the waters. If that's not enough then:

Jeff Samardzija, Carlos Marmol, and Alfonso Soriano to the Yankees for 30 million dollars in salary relief, Banuelos, Austin, Gumbs, Murphy, Marhsall, Nik Turley, and Heathcott.

Also thought about putting Wood, Villanueva, Banuelos, Torreyes, Marshall, and Heathcott in the Indians trade, but didn't. Went in a whole different direction because it was basically a giant three way.

More than fine paying up because I think that team is pretty damn good with ability to make "two fronts" type moves for 2014.

IIRC you were really singing Gumbs praises not long ago.

Hypothetically if we got Choo where would you bat him?

    I would actually consider leadoff.

Leadoff could be a spot but I'd rather have him at #2 or #5.

I'd like him in the 2 ideally but, would rather have Castro there with the protection.

I got to be honest, a lineup of
    Dejesus
    Choo
    Castro
    Rizzo
    Sorriano

isn't too bad. If we picked up a serviceable 3B and bat Castillo and Barney 7th and 8th I think we would actually have a chance to compete depending on the defense and pitching...

    Possibly I go with:

    DeJesus
    Castro
    Hamilton
    Choo
    Reynolds/Chavez
    Rizzo
    Castillo
    Barney

The Yankees' version of a Villanueva type prospect, but at 2B. I was big on Villanueva when he was a Ranger.

    I could dig this lineup.

It's actually quite versatile in ways you could construct it. I just felt Choo in the leadoff would be interesting but, prob. a waste of all his talents.

Rizzo then has to earn his way into the 5th, 4th, and/or 3rd.

The good news is with that type of lineup there would be no rush to force him into those spots.

As far as Banuelos as TJ surgery: he's a better SP prospect than Vizcaino when healthy. More innings, more rare arm (left), power pitcher, similar issues (height and consistency of third pitch, but a better third pitch).

The Cubs will listen to any team interested in Marmol or Soriano, though they probably will have to pay a good part of their remaining contracts to move them, and get the players' approval as well. Their needs are well known — third base, a starting outfielder and pitching. They're likely to make a Rule 5 pick — as they did last year with reliever Lendy Castillo, who didn't work out — and they will look at some perceived bargains, including some of the players non-tendered Friday.

Third baseman Mark Reynolds, starters John Lannan and Jeff Karstens and perhaps even oddball Giants closer Brian Wilson could be affordable one-year signings who could be flipped at the trade deadline in July if the Cubs are toast.

What do you guys think of Jair Jurrjens? I think he's an intriguing pitcher. If I were the cubs, I would role the dice and sign him to a two year deal.

    Nope. His velocity is gone.
