The #8 passenger on the Kris Bryant Train. Toot! Toot!
I'd begrudgingly give a Brian Wilson signing my blessing. I could even learn to tolerate him if he pitches well.
I've seen from a few places, from people I respect, that someone like Bourne wouldn't fit our current plan. And to me that's just mind boggling. "We won't be competitive next season, signing players like that is a waste". Well we're only not going to be competitive if we don't make moves to improve positions. I understand you need the young "core", but this plan thing has gotten way past ridiculous. We only really need to improve in a few places, a signing like Bourne would absolutely mesh with putting out a competitive team soon and for the long run.
One could argue wasting Rizzo/Castro/Shark's years of productivity is a far greater crime.
First Unanimous HoF Inductee
A couple of non tenders that intrigue me for our BP are Daniel Schlareth and Peter Moylan.
Any interest in Jurjins as a buy low candidate?
I wouldn't be surprised to see the Cubs take fliers on Karstens and/or Jurrjens.

I'd really like Karstens as a 6th or 7th SP.
Maybe in the middle of the season another fluff piece can be written about how he's never received defensive coaching until coming to the Cubs. Either way, the Cubs desperately need some power. I think there's currently one player in the lineup who's ever hit 30 HRs. The lineup ranked 24th in HRs.Id be all over Reynolds. We need the pop. He would likely get a boost moving to the nl. Iirc his problems defensively are due to his range.if you can place him in the right spots you can hide him there. Sign me up for Wilson too

LETS GO CUBBIES...LETS GO DUKE!!!
I've always had it in my mind that Wood is traded this offseason. If so, is it important to go get a lefty SP to most here? Personally, I don't care, but I've never looked into whether there's any importance to it or not.
Sweeney, Moylan and Reynolds interest me out of the non-tender group
I guess Brian Wilson too
