If Iman comes back and puts his focus offensively on moving the ball, and shooting the 3 ball when open....it's a big positive to start him. But Kidd has done an amazing job playing with the starters. The season will show if he should keep that role, for now I think he should.

Amare will eventually start, even though I don't think he should...he'll work his way back there. He's too good, and Woody will get him in there, but not before he's worked his way into the offense and the defense off the bench.

Kidd is not losing his starting job to shump. I feel like 80% of knick fans think that, and its alarming.

Kidd gives more to the starters with his shooting, experience and leadership.

shump serves us better in mobb deep with Jr amare Wallace and prigoni.

I understand wanting to see a certain line up or thinking that a big front is needed against one team and Melo at the four is great another.

I even understand the AMRI starting stuff(not really), former allstar making 20 million a season, he has to start(not really).

But where is the Shumpert starting when he get's back stuff coming from around here??? Threw 8 games Felton, Kidd, Brewer, Melo, Tyson line has been the best we have had in years. You really believe Shumps showed that much promise that he can slide in after missing 40 plus games???

That line up mean while, has been scoring in the first quarter, shutting teams down in the forth, and them putting teams away. I don't even think Stat should break up this line up, so how is Shumps going come in here in January/February and just move a player to the bench???

Knicks got something really special cooking and hope it doesn't end.

Basically, New York has had two different teams this year. The starting lineup of Kidd, Raymond Felton, Ronnie Brewer, Carmelo Anthony and Tyson Chandler has been a dominant offensive group. Per NBA.com/Stats, the Knicks' starters have averaged 124.6 points per 100 possessions, far and away the best mark of any regular unit. Among lineups that have played at least 100 minutes together, it's the Nets with Keith Bogans at small forward that rank a distant second with a 114.1 Offensive Rating.

In any closing game situation I want Chandler on the floor, regardless of pro offensive or defensive strategy. For a defensive stop having Chandler in the is a no brainer. For a go ahead bucket I also want him on the floor, because he has a knack for tapping offensive rebounds back out... anyone remember that Bulls game.

I say don't mess with what works. Felton, Kidd, Brewer, Carmelo and Chandler have had great chemistry and have a good mix of ball movement defense and Rebounding. Let them start the game and Woody can sub for the different category that he think the squad is lacking that night. Stat, JR, Novak for offense Iman, Wallace, Camby for Defense. Woody is in a great situation for a coach. He has tons of talent around him and they all have different skill sets.

    Starting 5: Felton-Kidd-Brewer-Melo-Chandler

2nd Unit 5: Iman-Smith-Novak-Stat-Camby - Wallace and Kurt spot minutes.

    Closing minutes 5:Kidd-Felton-Melo-Stat-Chandler

Closing seconds need game ending defensive stop 5:Iman-Brewer-Melo-Wallace-Chandler

Closing seconds need go ahead/winning shot 5:Kidd-Smith-Novak-Melo-Stat

    Starter: Kidd/Iman/Melo/Stat/Chandler

    2nd Unit: Felton/Smith/Novak/Wallace(or Brewer depending on opp.)/Camby

    Closing Minutes: Felton/Kidd/Melo/Stat/Chandler

    Need a GW shot: Kidd/Smith/Melo/Novak/Stat

    Defensive Stop: *Team w/size* Kidd/Iman/Melo/Camby/Chandler
    *Team playing small ball* Kidd/Iman/Brewer/Melo/Chandler

I believe in Melo in crucial moments on both offense & defense... He is the superstar on the squad

Well, Kidd has been awesome. But at some point, Kidd has to lose minutes just so he can stay healthy. Plus, this way you've got a guy on the 2nd team that can run the point just as well if not better than any 2nd team PG.

Kidd Shump feltonshump jr Shump are match up mix ups ..

Jr and Shump bring speed and athleticism

Kidd can help Iman and the D would be best along with smart O play and ball handling

Felton and Iman would bring good shooting good d great steals but fouls for reach ins and pick and roll with solid shooting everywhere depending who else is out there of course.

    Love it all

I take a look at the lineups that Woody's running when he plays Melo at SF with either KT or Sheed or Cope and I just get more hyped for Amare's return.

I don't think he's going to come off the bench for long. I think he may if he's not in shape for a while, but Woodson wants to play big.
