Cubs Contact Marlins on Giancarlo Stanton

I likes the idea Stanton is maybe the only position player I would trade Castro for.

Not even going to pretend this is realistic until more solid rumors show up. Of course the Cubs and everyone else will inquire after they make such a huge dumpoff...I'm sure we inquired about really talented Red Sox after their firesale as well.

OTOH, they can has the whole farm system.

Most folks know I am biased toward Stanton but if we could somehow land Stanton without giving up Castro/RIZZO/Almora/Soler. I am all in! If they want Shark/Marmol/BAEZ/LAKE/HA and salaries paid geteerrrrrrrdun!!!

Boston is 'all in' on Stanton... If Florida, er, Miami does decide to move him, I highly, highly doubt anyone will be able to outbid what the Red Sox are prepared to do... Anyone not named Bogaerts in rediculous combinations are being floated...

    It's not gonna happen.

Selig is watching the Marlins now and he will veto any deal for their only remaining star...

All the caveats that it isn't going to happen, but playing along with the fantasy.

There's pretty much nothing I won't pay. The only concern I have is his knees, which I think can be improved by movng him to 1b. At the plate, he's as close as you are going to get to a 23-year-old Pujols on the market.

I don't care if we have to give up Castro for him, but Rizzo seems like a better first piece for such a deal. The Marlins' 1b situation seems to be a gaping organizational hole, and he's got six full years of team control coming up.

Going with the MLB trade rumors report that they want 3 MLB youngsters and 2-3 prospects, I'd offer:

    Rizzo, Samardzija, Castillo, Vizcaino, Lake.

I'm in the same boat Kyle, I'd give up anything for him. I'd do a reasonable blank check scenario for him. Fill in 3 MLB Youngsters and 2 prospects you want and we can get it done. Sadly that would likely be outbid easily I believe.

Sign me up. And if they said switch Lake with Baez, I nod my head in agreement.
