More FO moves* Cubs hire Harris as baseball operations director

CHICAGO (AP) -- The Cubs have hired Scott Harris as their director of baseball operations.

The 25-year-old Harris spent the past two years as Major League Baseball's coordinator of major league operations. He provided transaction support and analysis to teams.

Before that, he interned with the Cincinnati Reds (2010) and Washington Nationals (2008). Harris was graduated from UCLA in 2009.

His hiring was announced Thursday.

you gotta love all these hires.
i sure get the feeling, rickets is allowing/wanting theo to do anything he can to bring a winner.

Sounds like he'll basically just be crunching numbers. But he does have a good resume and is young and will be learning from Jed and Theo so who knows maybe he'll climb the ladder and become a GM someday?

He worked in the commish's office at 22 according to his LinkedIn page from an earlier Yags post.

Anyway, any guess on when the law of diminishing returns starts kicking in on all these non-player hires and acquisitions? While this is cute and promising and all, I can imagine that point exists. Maybe Mr. Harris will do the calculation?

It's crazy how I wouldn't even be able to tell how you land either of the jobs he's held. Then again there's a gazillion things I couldn't tell...Boo.
