Not a Martin "fan" per se but the guy seemed to able to handle the pitching staff and the team saw what the effects of having a "good" catcher are. Very strange to let him go over a few mill...

NOBODY is getting a Multiyear deal. Especially not a .211 catcher.

I'm sure they offered him one year and he passed.

    Incorrect.

Russell Martin said the Yankees told him they didn't have the money available to match Pittsburgh's two-year/$17MM offer, reports David Waldstein of the New York Times. The Yankees didn't make Martin an offer and have yet to make any offers to position players this offseason, reports ESPN's Buster Olney

The Yankees’ refusal to even make an offer to Martin isn’t about the catcher at all.

Cashman said the Yankees never got around to making Martin an offer after the season, instead choosing to focus on pitching.

Also, Itchy is getting impatient with the Yanks and is listening to other offers.

    The link you're posting says....

Heyman tweets that the Yankees' last known offer for Martin was for two years and between $12-$14MM.
