I think the pelican is the LA state bird, so there's some relevance. Even so, The Pelicans sounds like a high school team name. The franchise would be making a mistake to choose that name.

The best names I've heard are The Brass and The Krewe because of their local and cultural relevance, plus both names have double meaning and sound hard ... harder than The Pelicans or the WNBA-inspired Voodoo.

I like Brass as well. Steamers is cool too. Voodoo is still my fav idea and I had heard a while ago that Benson was working on buying the naming rights from the AFL team. Guess that never went down.
Pelicans would be a massive mistake. It'd be a nice ode to the city if it's their state bird, but you can't take Pelicans seriously.

not to my knowledge... they have a huge hornets site (dont want to advertise another forum here) they have alot of concepts. might have to dig around.

use to have a guy named big dub that made sick designs and i think the team is consulting him about it so he took them down.

no to the jazz....hornets are already mistakenly called the bobcats by ESPN and other media....we want our own identity and not one where people would mistake for another team.

Uhh... you *do* realize the Jazz started in New Orleans right? The proposal would have just brought it back home since it really is quite out of place in Utah.

i'm very well aware of that...but alot of fans arent. and many people would still make the mistake only with utah... the teams been there long enough anyhow.

i'd just rather start fresh and not be a rehash of another brand
