Andrew Bynum Lawsuit with LA Neighbors: Allegations of Guns, Drugs, Racism

It pains me to have to post this, because I don't want to have to hear from all the Bynum haters on this site. But here we go...

Bynum -- a former member of the L.A. Lakers -- claims that ever since he moved into his fancy home in Westchester, CA more than 7 years ago, he's been constantly harassed by his neighbors, Ramond and Cindy Beckett.

According to his lawsuit, filed in L.A. County Superior Court, Bynum says ... the Becketts have objected to his "profession, his race, his friends, his cars and his taste in music."

Bynum claims the Becketts have behaved like petulant children -- throwing coins at his Ferrari (which chipped the paint), screaming at him about his music, and even banging the side of his house with "a long stick."

But the Becketts quickly responded to the lawsuit with a countersuiit of their own -- TRASHING Bynum as the neighbor from hell who only sued them to preemptively strike against the lawsuit they had been planning.

In their legal docs, the Becketts UNLOAD on the NBA star -- claiming he's guilty of the following misdeeds:

-- brandishing FIREARMS in an attempt to intimidate the Becketts
-- "apparently" using drugs and allowing weed smoke to drift next door
-- blasting loud, profane rap music (including the song "Currency" by Trina)
-- blasting his video games at "window-shaking volumes"
-- letting his dogs run loose through the neighborhood
-- constantly racing his luxury cars at dangerous speeds

Bynum has denied the allegations ... and according to docs filed by Andrew, the Becketts have sold their house since the lawsuit was filed ... so they're no longer neighbors.

We reached to both sides -- no word back from either.

"...banging on his house with a 'long stick'"? Just how close are these houses? If you're worth millions (and famous), why wouldn't you: (a) buy a house with a little more space between you and your neighbors; (b) enough insulation to drown out most noise; and (c) not have a yard big enough for your dogs to run around?

I'm really starting to question this dude's intelligence.

Well this is why I'm skeptical of many of the neighbor's claims. "Playing video games at 'window shaking' volumes"? I imagine they all live in mansions that are like miles apart from each other.

It's still Bynum's problem. And this will definitely cause more headaches than he's already caused for the Sixers. But you see this kind of stuff all the time where a high-profile celeb gets sued for made up stuff because he's an easy target because of his fame, his money, and his reputation. Not saying he's innocent here, but the claims are obviously worth questioning.

We'll see how it plays out. I'm mostly interested in seeing how the Sixers FO reacts and responds to this.

^^ especially in los angeles, its strange.

    just a strange story.

sounds like it would be a great TV show.... rich young black man with a pension for partying and loud music living next door to an old somewhat racist white couple.

    could be funny.

I also doubt this is entirely true but I wanna hear more about this "long stick" that was used to bang on his house. I believe the guns, music, and dogs part but definitely not the videogames, racing, and weed. How could they tell he was playing videogames just by the sound?

Maybe "long stick" is a term they are using for something else altogether.

Which, of course, would make him a pervert, in addition to an unneighborly neighbor.

I don't like Bynum, but let me be the first to defend him here on this one. First, look at alot of the claims, smoking Pot, driving super fast in the neighborhood, super loud music...and yet nowhere in that claim did those people ever call the police. And they didn't cause you KNOW that if they did, that story would have been all over the L.A. times back then. And I live out here near L.A., and I never heard or read a word. Now with that said, I'm sure Bynum probably did play his music a little loud at times, or his Video Games. But Bynum is a really young guy. Back when this was happening, he was probably 20-23 years old. I mean lets all look back on how we acted when we were that age. Or how his Neighbors probably did when they were that age. All I know is if I was a regular Neighbor living in a great Neighborhood. And I had a family, with young kids, and I smelled Marijuna smoke, and there was loud Music with Vulgar language.....I GUARANTEE you the Police would have been called. This just sounds like some petty stuff, that now is being made out to more then what it probably was.

And bottom line, I don't care what Bynum DID in his L.A. home. Only how he acts in his Philadelphia Home. And how seriously he takes his Rehab. Other then that, this is much Ado about nothing. And remember, this comes from ME...A guy who was never for this trade in the first place.

Actually they are pretty credible. They've reported a lot of deaths(Michael Jackson), affairs/scandals(Tiger Woods), arrests(lindsay Lohan) before anyone else. So I wouldn't be dismissing them as they are nothing.
