    Howard Vs Bynum

Sixers fan here and i want to ask from the perspective of a lakers fan Is Howard doing better for you than bynum did so far? Disregarding injury's for a second pretending both players are at peak health who would you rather have right now?

If both were 100% healthy I'd take Howard.. Here's why:

    1) He is far superior to Bynum defensively, it's no contest

    2) Bynum had a slight advantage offensively, he had more post moves and was a better FT shooter..BUT:

    3) All Bynum's positives get thrown out the window because he had no heart, he didn't care about winning, he didn't care about the team, he was a mental case at times and that got in the way of the team's success.

I would say he had more than just a slight advantage offensively, but when both were at they're peaks it's close. The difference is that Bynum was not at his peak very often so maybe Howard due to consistency.

Well last year Bynum averaged 18 a game, and this year Howard is around the same.. And last year, Howard averaged more ppg than Bynum last year.. I'd say it's slight..

Howard is a no brainer. The guy brings the energy every night especially on defense. And in spite of his free throw issues, he is a great player offesively. Wild swings on performance by Bynum from night to night. Plus you cannot discount injuries since he has been injured virtually every seen he has been in the NBA for like 20+ games per season.

Wilt, Kareem, Shaq, and now Dwight. Mount Lakermore is complete!

Dwight by a mile. Bynum struggled to pass out of the double while Howard does it in his sleep. More energy, athleticism, not lethargic.

Howard is playing at about 80%. His 80% is better then Bynums 100.

I'll take a healthy Dwight over Bynum soley on his love for the game and his defence. Bynum loves getting paid more. Thats dosent mean he cant play or that he dosent love the game, it just means he loves his check more.

I have notice something though. After watching last years against the Heat, and Celtics this morning on my computer and Howards play so far, theres a larger gap than i thought between Bynum's and Dwight's offensive games. I di not know that Dwight was such a turn over machine and foul magnet. I hope it is still his back, but alot looks like techniqe. I hope this injury forces D12 to form a more polished offensive game, so whens he's healthy he'd be more of a threat.

I mean, if you add Bynum health, drive, and determination then this would be closer. As much as I enjoyed watching Bynum play, he just didn't bring it every game. Dwight does.

What I find humorous is that the sixes have better record than the lakers. Even with Howard and the sixes without Bynum....

Bynum (If knees weren't shot) Has the skill set to be a very good player. His lack of work ethic and immaturity kept him from his full potential.

Yeah, it's slight. People often evaluate a basketball player's offense as if it's a game of HORSE. If you can do only one thing, but you do that one thing very effectively, you don't need a wide variety of skills. It's an exaggeration to illustrate a point - Howard can do more than one thing - but the fact remains that a player's offensive effectiveness is not defined by how many variety of shots he can make, or how much range he has - although all those things help.

It really is in the numbers. Howard, in his way, has been about (or almost) as effective offensively in his career as Bynum has been.
