About $35M too much. He's still not too old and has power, but that sub-300 OBP is troublesome. I've also read that his defense has declined somewhat. Whatever, the market is what it is. The Braves got better today.
Or maybe I am a baseball fan who realizes that his defense has been declining over the past years (according to UZR) and his offense has been stuck at "slightly" above average. Can he improve? Sure he can, he's proven before that he can hit better, but it's not a given. Especially considering he has been accused of lack of effort.

Fair deal on both sides. He's just entering his prime so we'll see what he'll bring to the table...
Steal for the Braves. Not surprised at all that an intelligent FO from a franchise known for its scouting acumen landed this one.
Agreed. To put this in perspective 37 year old Torii Hunter got 13 mil per year.
It always baffles me that people don't realize that it costs some money to acquire good talent.
But the only way a signing gets a positive reaction if it's a castoff or has-been on a spring training invite and the term low risk/high reward gets tossed around.
Gonna miss him here in Tampa. His defense was outstanding.
pretty good deal, could turn out to be really good. but there is uncertainty with it as he's underachieved for most his career
I'm fine with this deal. He is only 28 and has power plus speed, also needed that right side power badly.
I really think Upton will be happy to be out of St Pete and his numbers could very well go up both hitting and fielding.
