He's just jealous a division rival has a good GM as opposed to the guy handing out giant contracts to mediocre first basemen and late 30s bat-only players as if this were still the steroid era.
Think thats a pretty fair price. My guess was 5 for 80, so they got him for less. Upton is a pretty good player and still fairly young.
Not arguing Upton isnt very talented, but the guy has over 4,000 pa's in big leagues and expecting him to make a big jump in his game is folly and over paying for it is even more folly...
Meh. Okay contract. But he's no longer an elite defender according to UZR, and he's fresh off a sub .300 OBP season.
Count me as someone who's not that high on him.
Stoops....there it is!Fix it. Fix it good.

holy overpayment

His UZR isn't going to allow him to be the player he was earlier. He's probably closer to a 3 win CF than he is a 4 win CF as he goes forward.
For a player coming off of a sub .300 OBP season, a 5 year pact at $15m is likely an overpay. That's a lot of money for a lot of years who does nothing "great" any more.

So this means Hamilton is going to get 30 mil a season, right? Will be funny if Upton is only making 5 mil less a season than Hamilton if Hamilton only ends up at 20 mil annually.
honestly thought he'd get a bit more. Fair deal for both sides IMO

I think what would be looked at to justify this money, is his ability to have 20+ HR and 30+ (maybe 40+) SB.

Very good deal, he has a rare combination of speed and power, he's a 30-30 candidate enetering his prime who plays CF. He's the type of player that i don't mind going an extra year he will only be 33 at the end of the of the contract at 15M per year seems quite good.
