that's not too bad. 5 years for roughly $14/$15 per season. I think it's maybe a little over pay. I would have liked him better at around $12/$13 per season, but that's only a small difference.

EDIT: I do think they are paying for potential for more rather just solely numbers he produced in recent seasons.

Not a bad deal for the Braves. They filled a huge need and got a decent power guy thats got speed for 15M per year. Much better than paying Hamilton the 25M like some Braves fans were asking for.

I really don't think 14-15 annually for a 28 year old CFer who has averaged 3.8 WAR over the last 3 years is all that bad. It's almost exactly where I figured his contract would be.

I agree. If he can somehow work up the discipline to get his OBP to around .350, and keep his power numbers around his career numbers, he will be worth his contract. That is, assuming his defense in CF is still good

It's not a bad contract at all. If anything I think it's pretty good and he will easily live up to it.

Not to mention you got him for 4 prime years(29 - 32), and he should have .330 OBP w/ 20 SBs/HR's since he will be fully healthy entering the season.

It's a fair deal and only goes through his age 32 season. A very fine contract for both sides that covers a good, not great, player's prime seasons.
