    HTML/Web Design/Java Script (Lynda)

Pretty random thread, but I'm wondering if any of you have any experience with this?

My cousin-in-law does this kind of work for his career and said he could pass some of the smaller jobs on to me for like $30-40 an hour. Figure that would give me something productive to actually do on my computer for a change, so I'm interested. The only "catch" is I kind of have to train myself.

He recommended I check out lynda.com and suggested different tutorials to get me started. As interested as I am, he said it'll probably take a few months before I'm really ready for any jobs, and a membership to Lynda isn't free. I would hate to pay for a few months then not have anything pan out (broke college kid and all). He's assured me that the knowledge will help me wherever I take my communication degree after I graduate and it wouldn't go to waste regardless.

If you guys have experience in this kind of work, do you agree? Do you have any suggestions on learning this material (websites to use, etc.). Anyone use Lynda before?

2 totally different things ..... Css is visual HTML is structural..

HTML 5 is overtaking the latest version of XHTML which was the standard for a few years but not enough people are adapting over to HTML 5 which is making the internet sort of a **** storm.

    To OP

HTML and CSS are fairly easy and straight forward, you may want to learn some PHP Javascript is pretty tricky and will take the most work to learn ( not that familiar with it. )
