Is Lane Kiffin the worst playcaller in college football?

Down by two scores, at the 1 yard line, with one of the best WRs in the country on your team.

And he proceeds to try to run it up the middle against what is possibly the toughest run defense in the entire country

    smh

Is Lane Kiffin the worst playcaller in college football? Definitely one of them. Those were definitely some bad calls.

First and goal on the 6" line and you cant score. Seriously, lay the ball on your junk and stand up...if you're above national average...you score

He's bad at a lot of things. His father is one of the best d coordinators of all time and his team obviously isn't properly coached on tackling. That special teams play where his players vacated their lanes was a joke. You hardly ever see that. I don't think he does a good job of managing his staff.

As far as the play calls go, that line should be able to get them a yard.

They should have tried to run play action at least once on 1st or 2nd down on both of the goal-to-go situations in the 4th quarter. Both edges of ND's defense collapsed on the ball carrier immediately, they were already committed to the run. Run a bootleg to the right and your QB walks into the endzone.

They ran it on 4th down, and it worked, but Wittek threw a pretty awful pass.

Kiffin is stupid. doesn't he watch any game footage from other teams? Stanford tried the same thing and was stopped.
this is even more confusing because before that USC had back to back plays with defensive pass interferences.

I love it though, love Notre Dame!

He's in the discussion. Not sure why you would try QB sneaks when you have the best player in the country imo on your team.

I thought that was bad playcalling as well especially seeing the way that Notre Dame was lined up pinched at the line. As mentioned above rollout the quarterback on a bootleg.

The thing that bothers me the most is that they didn't kick the FG. They needed two scores anyway why not extend the game? I see that happen way too much. It bothers me

that and the nonchalance they were showing down 2 possessions with less than 5 minutes to play. lane was casually getting plays in to wittek, the linemen were casually getting to the line. it was painful to watch... especially as a gator fan with a vested interest in the outcome of that game. i hate kiffin so much.

Well before the FSU/Florida game I had a vested interest, but that went away after that game. As a football fan that sequence drove me nuts. I think they got to the goal line with like 5 minutes left. It took them close to like 3 minutes to end that drive and they got no points. I would have just thrown the ball every time to preserve time. They probably could have kicked the FG with close to like 4 minutes left adn IIRC they still had 2 timeouts. The outcome could have been different. That was painful to watch.

agreed. kick the field goal and you still have a chance. go for the TD and not make it and you are pretty much done. to much risk when you needed a field goal either way
