Japandroids, The Walkmen, Titus Andronicus, Yuck & The Joy Formidable are some of my favs at the moment.

If you have a smartphone, download an app called Songza. My friends were forever asking me for some new music & a lot of the stuff I listen to is on there so I just reccomended that. I found a ton of new bands from there as well, it's pretty great (& free).

The only real downside is you can't replay songs.

They are by far my favorite band. I don't think they are "indie" either but all the music mentioned in the OP was what I consider alternative and I also consider The Strokes alternative

Second favorite band but they are truly amazing as well. If you ever get a chance to see them live do it, they are so sick in person.

I'm disappointed if you still haven't checked out the narrative.

They're compared to death cab a lot

Maybe around Hot Fuss, but since they've been one of the largest bands over the past 10 years, I'd say no.

    How's it going to end?

Yeah, Lonerism might have been my favorite album of last year. Pretty much tied with GKMC and Channel Orange.

Outside a few artist, the fashion of hip-hop hasn't changed in 20years.

The term Indie represents something far different than what it used to mean. Not much different than how the term Alternative was eventually used in the 90's.
