A lot of shows have been doing this of late, is anyone a fan of it? Because I absolutely hate it. Can anyone explain why it is done. I think it kills interest in the shows.

because of the holiday season i think. same reason they dont have new episodes of a lot of shows in the summer, people are doing things and rating decline

I Think nbc is making a huge mistake by taking revolution off the air for 4 months,and with Grimm too. It is expected with with the cable series,but not the regular shows.

Holiday season, less people are watching TV, they are going out of town and spending time with their families.
Speaking about cable shows, their seasons are usually shorter and they networks want to hit make sure they get as many viewers as they can in the shortened seasons.
Also I am not sure if this is still true but if sweeps week still exists, networks want their best shows to hit as many "sweeps weeks" as possible.
