As tragic as the story is, my intent in bringing it to the table was to thry and break more people out of the insular bubbles of conservative entertainment TV/Radio.

If you are a fiscal/social conservative thats great...I tend not to agree with the ideology, and it strikes me on its surface a narrow minded when it only appeals to the few that it benefits....but if youve placed serious consideration
in the ideas, then what more can someone ask of you.

    My problem is with FOX.
Its not enough to present conservative ideals, they are always rabble rousing...whipping people up into a frenzy of anger, hate, suspicion, and intolerance.
Like I pointed out, the chances of being murdered in a home invasion are like 1 in 100 million.Throw in the fact that they were two kids...take a look at these hardened criminals

I attribute a lot of the hysteria to people being agitated into a state of hyper vigilance , much like PTSD, from watching a network that tells them everynight that a socialist, muslim, foreigner, along with a horde of pink-o liberals has stolen their country from them.

Well damn if I saw those people in my house, I would give them whatever they wanted. Such good looking teens don't look like trouble at all.

If the guy would have just killed the kids with the first shot this would be a non issue.

Sota, that is one hell of a quote.

SP7, I'm not sure its that complex. It became relatively simple when the guy got a second gun, reloaded, and then unloaded on people he had already shot. If that is accurate, seems pretty simple to me. It wasn't cool for Achilles to drag Hector behind his chariot, same principle here. He took an action that could have been justified, and carried it over into something just sickening.

well, there is the right to protect your self and your property which we all recognize.
then there is the right to bear arms which is constitutionally protected though often debated, then there is the adult/minor issue , as well as the intent of the kids(its looking like they thought the place was empty and they could rummage ).
But again, my focus was the consequence of polarized media on the psyche of people.
Alot of people call me a partisan or a liberal and thats cool, I dont mind.
I mean I dont consider myself any thing that can be labelled but I know that, that is how people deal with different perspectives from thier own as in "what wrong with that guy...he must be a LIBERAL".

My issue is with the fear mongering and hate that is sown on the Murdoch media empire and its effect on people.
Even the hyper partisan MSNBC broadcasts dont advocate violence or prtecting our country and values at any cost ,Blah, Blah, Blah...its almost treasonous the disregard for the publics safety some of the crap they push.

Didn't mean to seem insensitive, but it really is the bare truth. Had this guy taken one shot on both the people and called the cops right away. There would really be no issue here with the law.

Actually if they had no weapon there could be an issue. Deadly force is not allowable to protect property in many states.

And really is it morally acceptable to kill a man over a tv?

I know a guy, family, who in his youth robbed a liquor store, never caught. Later in life now an upstanding citizen he shot a man who was trying to break into his car, (not fatal, but not for lack of trying). This person was unaware of the irony when we discussed the juxtaposition of him being alive and believing he had the right to kill the other guy.

I have a couple of friends who would do "beer runs" on liquor stores, run off with a couple of 6 packs...same thing, they probabaly dont ever even think about it now, they could easily have been shot down..some B.S. story made up...
I get that we work very hard for the things we earn, but they are after all just a bunch of material crap when it comes right down to it, cant say Ive ever owned anything more valuable then a life.

I'm sorry but if somebody breaks into my house while I'm home I'm not going to assume they just want my TV.

    For instance-

MONTE SERENO, Calif. (AP) — Police say a man was killed and his wife injured during a home invasion robbery in an upscale San Francisco Bay area neighborhood.

The wife called 911 around 1:40 a.m. Friday to report that the home in the Santa Clara County town of Monte Sereno had been ransacked and the couple attacked.

Police found the husband dead inside although they have not said how he was killed.
    That happened this morning.

For all we know the guy could be dead because he tried to stop them.

Not really like the lotto at all. If you don't win the lotto you aren't dead.

Just think what would have happened had that person been properly armed when felons break in.

While I still agree that the original person in the original article went to far after he had the felon subdued and will face jail time, if someone had to die i'm glad it's the felon and not the real victim in this case the person who had his home broken into.

Come to psd where admitted dupes who do nothing but troll the gd and fs forum are free. But man don't you dare mention trolling on someone's wall.

I agree. If people really want to protect themselves and their families they would be best served to do nothing and call the cops later on. Getting your gun and trying to be the hero rarely helps things at all.
