My name every where

It's high but not quite that high.....
Here is the contract:
3/5/2010: Signed a four-year, $26 million contract. The deal included a $4 million signing bonus with $10 million in first-year guarantees. 2012: $925,000 (+ $4.075 million "signing" bonus), 2013: $5 million (+ $500,000 roster bonus), 2014: Free Agent
To calculate the cap hit, you have to look at his total signing/roster bonuses (4+4.075+500,000). The 4 million is divided by 4 because it was done with 4 years on the deal. The 4.075 is divided by 2 because it was done with 2 years left on the deal and the roster bonus (500,000) would NOT be divided because it is in the final year of his contract. All cap hits on signing bonuses are spread evenly throughout the life of the deal eventhough the money is paid to the player up front.
2.14+5= 7.14 million cap hit for 2013. If he were to be released, The team must pay the outstanding balance of signing bonuses that year; however, they wouldn't pay the 500,000 roster bonus if he is released prior to March 4th.
If he was released prior to march 4th, the cap hit for 2013 would be 4.075/3=1.35 + 4/4=1 = 2.35 Million
Between Burleson and KVB, Mayhew will have a lot of "dead money" to clean up next season.

Now if we manage to pull the trigger on Babin (which I don't agree with doing) he would be a replacement for KVB am I right? But let's just take a second and look at our possible drafting position a top 10 pick probable and this draft is stacked with talented pass rushers. Just a thought.
SUPERBOWL OR BUST
Philadelphia Flyers
Kansas Jayhawks
Seattle Seahawks
Cincinnati Bengals
New York Knicks
Memphis Grizzlies
Philadelphia Phillies
Notre Dame Fighting Irish
Anaheim Angels
anyone know where babin ended up?

roto-
Jaguars claimed DE Jason Babin off waivers from the Eagles.
Jacksonville is second in the waiver claim order, so Babin didn't make it far. According to NFL.com, eight teams placed claims. The Jags are now on the hook for his remaining $1.69 million salary. Babin should immediately goose the league's worst pass rush, and will be auditioning for a roster spot in 2013. Babin is signed through 2015, but has no guaranteed money beyond 2012. Even if he's back in Jacksonville next season, it will almost certainly be on a renegotiated deal. The author of 36.5 sacks since 2010, Babin will turn 33 in May.

It will probably be a day or two before that info comes out. I am really interested to see if Detroit put in a claim......if they did, then I gotta give credit to Mayhew for trying.
In the offseason, I was really hoping we would have gotten a trade done with JAX for MJD (as most wanted).
I remember a lot of us wanted to see Avril for MJD go down as they needed help at DE and Avril was on borrowed time in detroit.
Would have been interesting to see if that actually happened.......Avril would have been in JAX (his hometown) with MJD playing in Detroit (and perhaps uninjured as circumstances would have been different).
All the while, we put in a claim on Babin (JAX obviously doesn't with Avril on the roster). And the Kalamazoo/ Western Michigan native returns home as well.
Wonder what our record would have been with a running game this season if MJD was here?
I sure like the looks of MJD/Babin on the roster; both already committed to long-term deals, as opposed to Avril on his way out. I think looking back, most who didn't like this idea would have been happy to throw in a mid-round pick along with Avril to make the deal work (if they could still do it but that ship has sailed)
This is why Mayhew can be maddening sometimes!
at least babin didn't got to washington ....
