I wish. Personally, I think they can spend like this next offseason. We'll have some money off the books by then. Theres a lot of good OFers out there next offseason. Ellsbury, Hart, Pence etc. We sign two of them, we're contenders

Trade Niese to the Red Sox for Bryce Brentz, Lavarnway and Dubront. We get our young RF that we've been lacking, our young Catcher and a replacement for Niese in the rotation.

Ludwick?damon?juan Pierre? Seriously? Why resign wright and dickey if this is the best they can do. They have no bullpen except for bobby "sweaty palms" Parnell. No catcher, and no depth on the bench. Why not accept the fact that the team is going to struggle for the next 3 or so years and trade wright and dickey? Next years fa class is full of guys Who are injury prone or will be getting vastly overpaid by teams with bigger pockets then the mets. How long can they keep scraping from the bottom of the free agent barrel before they realize that these reject Players aren't gonna get it done

Yeah but he needs a full season to see if he is part of the future or not. He is a bit a tweeder though, very good defense but lacks the speed for center and doesn't have the power to be in the a corner spot.

I don't think that's the deal we want.

How about Dickey for Lorenzo Cain and Jake Odorizzi.
Sign Hairston for 2 years/$5 million to platoon with Kirk.
Sign Ryan Ludwick or Cody Ross to a somewhat front-loaded 3 year deal.
Trade Gee to Toronto for Arencibia.

Fills out our offensive needs and still leaves some money to sign a reliever or two.

All solid ideas but I am really not high on Cain. If we can't get a future star like Starling for Dickey its something we have to do. I understand wanting to improve now though so I can't hate on it that much.

Starling and Odorizzi I would do. I just don't think it makes sense to trade Dickey unless we are getting a potential future star. Odorizzi profiles as a #3 with a ceiling of a 2 if EVERYTHING breaks right.

Now that we have Wright long term, I would trade a package centered around Flores and Familia for Fowler (More established same age as Cain).

Gee for JPA if we could pull off would be a really good deal. Although if we trade Gee we have to bring back Pelf.

No it's not, package Flores along w/ Fulmer; Lagares, and Puello and get Alex Gordon. Also trading one of our 2 proven pitchers to get a catcher or outfielder will not make us better, it'll just do nothing.
