Niese and a prospect for d'Arnaud and Rajai Davis

Helps fill two holes. Then if we sign Cody Ross we will be in much better shape than we were going into this offseason

So we're going to trade a 27 y/o lefty #4 who is locked up for 3+ years for a unproven catcher and a 32 y/o outfielder who gets on base at a .310 clip and is a FA after this year?

D'Arnaud is a spectacular catching prospect. I'd trade Niese for him in a heartbeat.

IDK if they would give up d'Arnaud for Niese.

Its also VERY RISKY for us.

The problem with trading an established pitcher for one very good prospect is if the prospect can't translate to the majors you have nothing.

Niese for d'Arnaud and Rasmus I would do. Jay's probably not.

I also think Dickey for Rasmus or Gose and JPA > then Cain and Odorazzi

I'd say sign Ross. I dont think Pagan will come back, and Ludwick isn't worth the money he'll get. Ross gives us some flexibility in the OF. He can play all three positions decently. He's played in the NL East very effectively. I think he'd be a solid RF for 2013, and then could play CF or LF in 2014 if we sign one or two of the big FA OF then

I didn't say he wasn't, however Davis is 32 and a FA after this year. Not to mention he's a .310 OBP guy w/ no power. If D'Arnaud pans out, we're no better than we were today unless we retain Davis and he's stays productive for us. Prospects are what they are... prospects, it's foolish to trade established young players for highly touted unless you're rebuilding. The Mets are not rebuilding, they're doing the "half in half out" method of trying to rebuild while trying to win, and that trade won't help under that circumstance.

Would the Jays do Dickey for Rasmus and JPA? Cause I would do that deal

I brought that up before. Most likely the Jays would. I would try to get d'Arnaud and Rasmus first.

For instance Dickey, Duda and Flores for Rasmus and d'Arnaud. It's worth a shot. If they counter with Rasmus and JPA I would shop around and see if they could do better before agreeing to the deal.

They would help the team as far as filling needs buts IDK about the lineup chemistry.

Our Lineup may break the all time strikeout record adding them to our lineup with Wright, Duda, Kirk and Ike.

Why are people so obsessed with Arencibia? He has a career .275 OBP. Yes, he'll put up 20 bombs per season, but that's it. It's not like he's 21 and still has plenty of time to develop, he's 26. Thole is the same age and has a career .331 OBP. The upgrade seems marginal.

What's so great about this guy?

OF will be sought after via trade, but unless a package comes around for Niese or Dickey, that blows SA away, we'll be looking at Duda, Captain Kirk, and Baxter as the every day trio. There will be no big name...maybe any name...FA's signed this winter.

    I hope SA surprises me!
I just do not want anyone here to get upset, when they start passing on FA names.

    THANK YOU PROKY!!!

    #4? I don't know any #4's with a 3.40 ERA.

Apparently most MLB execs believe Justin Upton will be moved this offseason.. *updated as of yesterday.

Do you think Sandy will put a package together with Jon Niese or Dickey headlining to acquire Upton?

This really is the perfect situation for the Mets to grab there one star OF and use Niese/Dickey as a trade chip to get him.
