I think it's too early to think QB. Drew has 4 years left on his deal. In a year or two, we pluck a QB to groom.
This year's QB class leaves something to be desired...like a NFL QB.
If we were in the Colt's position from last year, than yeah, I could see taking a QB when someone as talented as Luck (or RG3) were staring at us in the face...but this year...nah, I see nothing but mid-carders and flops.
Its all a gamble but I'd hate to bet on a "1st Round" talent QB and he flops.
I think the safer route is to draft a QB later in rounds and groom him over the years especially to learn from Payton for a few years dude would likely be a beast.
Watch how Ryan Mallet looks when he replaces Brady I bet they dont skip a beat. And I wanted Mallet damn Bellichek now we have Collin will we do it I doubt it should we I really think we should. I had some hope for Canfield but honestly I do not like lefty QBs![]()
KENNY VACCARO IS ZORRO
You're also assuming Payton is around when Brees hangs it up. I wouldn't place money on that.

As long as he doesn't take it next season.
if Paytons contract will end with Bree's then we will have our answer on what his plans are.
If I had to take a QB this year early, I think I'd take Aaron Murray in the 3rd, provided we get the #2 back. I don't care for the idea of drafting an heir to Drew's throne this year. Time has not yet come, IMO.
Some WR's are divas. Then there's new Saints WR Kenny Stills
I think Payton might stay, but chances are that he'll retire for a while then be one of those guys like Gruden or Cowher who gets their name thrown in for every coaching vacancy and can wait until the right one comes along a couple of seasons after original retirement

Murray made Brees' clock management look passable.
Irrelevant. You don't run a play there. Spiking it would have given them 2 shots at the end zone.
