I don't think anyone is saying that we should sign him to a long term deal.
sign him to a 1 year deal to finish out the season and keep him from the Falcons.

@PewterReport: Bucs won't be signing Babin, who was released by the Eagles. Age and reputation biggest factors. In case anyone was getting their hopes up

    Jaguars win the Babin sweepstakes.

Jaguars claimed DE Jason Babin off waivers from the Eagles.
Jacksonville is second in the waiver claim order, so Babin didn't make it far. According to NFL.com, eight teams placed claims. The Jags are now on the hook for his remaining $1.69 million salary. Babin should immediately goose the league's worst pass rush, and will be auditioning for a roster spot in 2013. Babin is signed through 2015, but has no guaranteed money beyond 2012. Even if he's back in Jacksonville next season, it will almost certainly be on a renegotiated deal. The author of 36.5 sacks since 2010, Babin will turn 33 in May.

Kansas City Chiefs player kills girlfiend, takes own life

    http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nfl-sh...1891--nfl.html

Reports are just coming in regarding a tragedy involving the Kansas City Chiefs, but here's what we know at this time. According to KCTV-5 News in Kansas City, a Chiefs player shot and killed his girlfriend at a house near the team's facility on Saturday morning.

The player then drove to a location near the team's main campus and took his own life. Per the Kansas City Star, members of the team's staff tried to stop the player from committing any other acts of violence before the player turned a gun on himself. The Chiefs' Arrowhead practice facility was evacuated and is currently on police lockdown.

After speaking with Kansas City police, Albert Breer of the NFL Network reported that the mother of the murdered woman called police and told them that her daughter had been shot. Police arrived at the Chiefs' facility only to find the player in question in the parking lot with a gun to his head. As one officer got out of his car, he heard a gunshot. The player was later pronounced dead.

According to FOX Sports' Jay Glazer, the name of the player will not be revealed until his family is informed. Glazer also reports that Chiefs players have been asked to assemble at the team's main facility so that they can be informed of all the details.

The Chiefs are scheduled to play the Carolina Panthers at Arrowhead at 1:00 PM ET Sunday, and per Joseph Person of the Charlotte Observer, the Panthers have been told by the league to travel to Kansas City as if the game will be played. The Panthers' plane is set to leave at 1:15 PM ET today.

Stay tuned for updates on this developing story
Very very sad, please lets keep from judging until the facts are revealed. WOAH

Awful. I just read that Belcher and his girlfriend have a 3 month year old child.

My thoughts and prayers go out to all of the families involved.

Dallas Cowboy dies, One charged with manslaughter!

Cowboy Dies In Car Crash; Teammate Arrested On Manslaughter Charges

    December 8 Fort Worth Star-Telegram

"Dallas Cowboys defensive tackle Josh Price Brent was the driver in a fatal accident early Saturday morning that killed his teammate Jerry Brown. Brent was arrested for intoxication manslaughter at 4:30 a.m. and is currently in the Irving jail.

A spokesman for the Irving police department confirmed that a fatal accident occurred at the 1400 block of the NSR of E. S.H. 114 at 2:21 a.m. early Saturday morning.

"We are deeply saddened by the news of this accident and the passing of Jerry Brown," Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said. "At this time, our hearts and prayers and deepest sympathies are with the members of Jerry's family and all of those who knew him and loved him."

Brent's agent Peter Schaefer declined comment.

According to the Irving police release, the 24-year-old Brent was driving at a high rate of speed when his car hit the outside curb causing the vehicle to flip at least one time before coming to rest in the middle of the service road. When police arrived, Brent was responsive and able to speak with officers. Brown, 25, was the passenger in the car and was unresponsive. He was transported to an area hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

According to the release, the officers at the scene believed alcohol was a contributing factor in the crash. Brent performed field sobriety tests and based on the results, he was arrested for driving while intoxicated and later booked on one count of intoxication manslaughter."
