8/140 is roughly 17 mil a year assuming some years are lower and some are higher. That is fine by me. Get **** done already!

I don't think Wright is concerned about the money as much as he is with the direction of the team.
I think if he knew this team was looking to compete this year or next year he would sign on the dotted line tomorrow.

Still A Better Umpire Than Angel Hernandez!!!
more than fair, I would give him a deadline to decide.
Hopefully this deal gets done just so we can find out just how solvent the franchise is. If you're seeing numbers of 15 or so million per year in the first 2 years of the extension you know the team is functionally broke. A team with money to spend would front-load the extension so that he isn't an albatross in the last years of the deal.
I honestly don't think I'd give Wright much more than 8 years/$140 million unless the deal was heavily backloaded or had some deferred money. So hopefully we really did offer that, and hopefully he takes it. If he doesn't, I think it's time to consider trading him.
With all due respect.....
He's concerned about the money. Any time you hear a player say he's concerned about the direction of the team, it only means he'll sign with a better team if the money is about the same.
There have been a few exceptions to this, most notably Gregg Maddux in the 90s and Cliff Lee a few years ago.
But almost always its about the money despite the phony sentiments to the contrary.
Now the Zen master says, "We'll see."
